Our body is exposed to a number of chemicals daily: the air that we breathe in, the food that we eat, the water that we drink and so many things that we consume daily without taking notice. These potentially adverse chemicals contribute a great deal in deteriorating our mind and body health.

Here are natural ways to detox your body in a week:

1. Begin your day with a glass of spring water and freshly squeezed lemon juice

Alkalize your body and flush out all the toxins by drinking lemon or apple cider vinegar with water first thing in the morning. A fun fact that you must know about apple cider vinegar is – Hippocrates used apple cider vinegar as a golden healing elixir.  It is a natural healing antiseptic and a antibiotic that fights germs and bacteria for a healthier and longer life. Continue to drink loads of water throughout the day to continue flushing out excessive toxins in your body.

2. Take probiotic supplements

Have you heard about cultured vegetables? Try having some every day as well as kefir and greek yogurt. These foods kill harmful bacteria and help by healing the lining of the intestine and improving gut health.

3. Eliminate white breads and white flour

Consuming white flour can lead to digestive disorders, as it can contribute to inflammatory states in the body. It could also slow down bowel movements -  necessary for detox. You can use kamut flour, quinoa flour, buckwheat flour, cornmeal, brown rice flour as a substitute. You can also switch from eating white bread to whole grain bread instead.

4. Sleep

A good night’s rest might be all you need. Proper sleep leads to reduced stress and cortisol levels as well as contributes to weight loss.

5. Consume more healthy Fats and Oils

Natural oils and fats contained in extra virgin olive oil and organic coconut olive oil provide energy for the biotransformation process.

Eliminate toxic oils from your diet, including:

  • Cotton Seed Oil

  • Sunflower Oil

  • Canola Oil

  • Peanut Butter Oil

  • Vegetable Oil

Substitute these oils with the good ones:

  • Coconut Oil

  • Avocado Oil

  • Hemp Oil

  • Flaxseed Oil

  • Extra-virgin Olive Oil

6. Consume more Nuts and Seeds

Try adding more sunflower seeds, flax seeds, almonds, cashews, walnuts, etc. to your daily diet. Seeds and nuts are a great source of fiber, which assists in the detox process. They also serve as a perfect snack.

7. Drink freshly squeezed vegetable juice

Include lots of fresh vegetables in your juice like cilantro, kale, spinach, beetroot, turmeric, ginger, lemon, apples, cilantro. Do make sure that you use only the seasonal vegetables; these might vary according to the seasons and place you live.

8. Eat more Legumes

Lentils, beans and various other types of legumes are a great good source of soluble and insoluble fiber, contributing to the detox process.

9. Increase consumption of Fruits

Fruits have a wide variety of phytonutrients such as lutein, anthocyanins, beta-carotene that have various anti-oxidant properties. They are also a great source of insoluble and soluble fiber that are rich in water content, contributing to the necessary and natural detox process our body's need.
