4 All-Natural Energy Boosters (besides coffee)

October 26, 2017

Whether you are seeking a supplement to boost your energy for a gym session, a pick-me-up in the middle of a long work day, or something to give you that extra oomph to organize an entire party before Friday night, you may be wondering what kinds of natural supplements may be healthy and helpful. By knowing not only what ingredients to look out for, but how they help promote an energy boost, you can choose a supplement that is right for your specific needs.

1. Green Tea Extract

Green tea extract has long been a healthier (and equally effective) alternative than coffee to receive a caffeinated buzz that will last hours. With a single cup containing anywhere between 35 and 100 milligrams of caffeine (dependent on how long it is steeped), it will give you a natural boost.

That isn’t all, though – green tea extract is filled with antioxidants that have been proven to help support weight loss. Naturally lose weight while you receive an energy boost? What is not to love about that?

2. Guarana Extract

Guarana, indigenous to Brazil, is a plant known for its high concentration of caffeine (which, depending on how it is prepared the content can be 4 times higher than the amount present in coffee beans). This makes it a natural and wonderful energy booster. As a natural stimulant, it not only prevents tiredness and fatigue, but also prevents dips in energy levels triggered by muscle stress.

The best news? This magical fruit possesses appetite-suppressing properties too. Teas and oral supplements containing guarana extract have been incorporated into dieting plans around the world in order to suppress hunger. Studies have also found that the fruit can kick start the nervous system to induce lipolysis. Lipolysis involves the release of fat into the blood stream where it is used as energy during exercise.

3. Asian Ginseng Extract

The Asian ginseng root not only fights fatigue, but has cognition-boosting properties as well. Although the root was historically used as a medicinal herb, it is now one of the most widely used supplements for dietary health and energy elevation.

Root extracts — in particular, ginseng — are naturally invigorating and seem to have extremely powerful effects on physical energy levels. These include increasing exercise endurance, alleviating fatigue, and enhancing performance.

On top of this, ginseng has been proven to increase energy production in the brain. By taking the ginseng root, brain neurotransmitters including dopamine, noradrenaline, and serotonin are raised to higher levels. This boost of brain neurochemicals contributes to increased alertness and increased focus.

4. Cacao Extract

Cacao extract (commonly called cocoa), is much more than the main ingredient in chocolate. Rich in antioxidants to protect the body from harsh elements, this natural supplement is not only healthy but an effective stimulant.

Cacao extract contains caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline – all chemicals which have stimulating properties. It is common for people to experience a rise in motivation, alertness, and energy when taking cacao.

It is essential to look for the ingredients mentioned above as a few of the main ingredients in an energy-boosting supplement. By choosing an oral supplement containing these ingredients and selecting natural components, you will not only be able to achieve a rise in energy levels, but also experience fewer side effects.
