4 Effective plant-based remedies for Blackheads

August 29, 2017

Blackheads are one of the most popular skin care problems found these days. They are small black or yellow bumps formed when a clog is developing in the hair follicle's opening due to the combination of dirt, dead skin cells and excessive sebum. They can be widely found on the face, especially on the nose, and can also be found on the back, neck, chest, shoulders or arms. If untreated, blackheads can turn into acne breakouts.

Among the main causes of blackheads, we can find hormonal changes, excessive usage of cosmetic products, careless skin care, genetics and stress. If you have turned to medications without success or are looking for a natural solution,  try these 4 plant-based home remedies. By using simple ingredients typically found in the kitchen, your blackheads can be faded away in just few days.

1. Baking Soda

Baking soda is one of the best natural treatments for blackheads as well as acne removal. It aids in removing any skin impurities like dirt and debris.

How to apply:

  • Add about two teaspoons of baking soda to water to create a paste.

  • Rub gently the mixture over your affected skin area and massage it lightly

  • Let it dry for some minutes before washing it off with warm water

  • Follow this treatment twice per week

2. Cinnamon

Another handy tip for you to remove blackheads is cinnamon.

How to apply:

  • Add cinnamon powder to lemon juice

  • Spread the solution over your face and try to wait 15 minutes before washing it off

  • Or, Add cinnamon powder to honey to make a thick paste

  • Rub it over your blackheads before going to bed and keep it overnight

  • Wash the face with clean water the next morning

  • Re-apply the treatment on a daily basis for about 10 days to maximize the results.

3. Oatmeal

The combination of yogurt and oatmeal is powerful to keep those stubborn blackheads away your face.

How to apply:

  • Add the juice from four tomatoes to 1 teaspoon of honey in oatmeal to create a thick paste

  • Spread the solution over the skin

  • Rinse it off after 15 minutes

  • Re-apply frequently for blackheads and acne elimination

4. Lemon Juice

Like oatmeal, lemon juice is a promising home remedy for blackheads and acne treatments. This is due to its vitamins and nutrients which have been found to be essential and naturally beneficial for most skin types.

How to apply:

  • Place some drops of honey in lemon

  • Mix it with sugar for exfoliation

  • Scrub the solution over your affected skin

  • Wash it off after 15 minutes

  • Follow the treatment twice per week

  • Also, you can mix fresh juice from lemon with rose water to use it as a facial cleanser.

  • Apply it several times each week until your condition improves significantly.
